Is Parenting Right for Me?

Parenting might feel like an impossible option. Maybe you aren’t financially stable or are still in school. However, no matter your situation, parenting may be possible. In fact, many women in your situation have decided to parent and found it to be the most rewarding decision they could have made.

If you choose to parent, many resources are available to help you parent successfully. Whether you need help with housing, food, baby and maternity items, job placement, or life skills, we can help you find the resources you need to feel supported as a parent.

If you’re wondering whether parenting is right for you, these questions can help you think through this option:

  • What might my life look like if I choose to parent?
  • How might I feel if I don’t choose this option?

Is Adoption Right for Me?

Adoption is a choice full of options, depending on what you desire and feel comfortable with.

If you want to have contact with the adoptive family and child, open adoption is for you. This choice allows you to maintain a relationship with the adoptive family and child through open communication—whether that’s texts, calls, or even in-person visits.

Semi-open adoption is similar to open adoption, but all communication is mediated by a third party, like an adoption agency.

Closed adoption is the most restrictive option. With closed adoption, you won’t know anything about the adoptive family and child, and they won’t know anything about you.

When thinking about whether adoption is right for you, the following questions can help:

  • How might I feel if I choose adoption?
  • What might my life look like if I choose adoption?
