Free and Confidential Pregnancy Testing

In order to feel confident that the pregnancy test you take is giving you accurate results, you need to take a medical grade test administered by someone you can trust. At Cornerstone, we offer free and confidential lab-quality pregnancy testing that has a 99% accuracy rate. A medically-trained member of our staff will administer your test and verify your results. You can be confident it is accurate.

How Does a Pregnancy Test Work?

When a woman becomes pregnant, her body begins to produce the human pregnancy hormone known as hCG. This hormone is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus. The level of hCG increases approximately six days after fertilization and continues to rise rapidly.

A pregnancy test measures the amount of hCG in your urine. According to the Mayo Clinic, if you take a pregnancy test too early, you may get a false negative result because the level has not increased enough to be detected.

When to Take a Pregnancy Test

You may panic and feel pressure to take a test as soon as possible. However, in order to get a positive test result, your body needs time to produce a particular level of hCG. If your normal menstrual cycle is every 28 days, you can usually take a pregnancy test a day or two after your missed period. If your periods are irregular, we suggest waiting 5 to 7 days before testing. By waiting longer, you will be able to get a more accurate urine sample.

What Happens If the Test Is Positive?

If you received a positive result from a medical-quality pregnancy test at Cornerstone, your next step is to have a free first trimester ultrasound. An ultrasound will verify the results of your test, plus give you valuable information you will need to take the next step. Whether you visit our clinic or our mobile unit, ultrasounds are always free and confidential.
